Meet Tonya McDaniel

Elected in 2018 as Forsyth County Commissioner for District A, Tonya D. McDaniel is a trailblazer with deep community roots and a vision for progress that leaves no one behind. Born in Winston-Salem to a proud military family and raised in Ft. Jackson, S.C., Tonya blends the discipline of service with the passion of advocacy.

A graduate of Winston-Salem State University with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in Public Administration, and holder of a Master’s in Public Administration from North Carolina Central University, Tonya has the expertise to turn vision into measurable results.

Tonya stepped into leadership to secure assets, access, and accountability for the people of District A. She has fought for fairness in property tax evaluations, championed equitable funding for schools, and prioritized community safety and well-being.
